While we try to limit the number of UDFs we used, they are still necessary to make sure the tool matches our business processes as closely as possible. The UDFs in Prolog are limited in three way - 1. Limited types to choose from ex: no radio button 2. unable to add them to any form anywhere on the form 3. unable to connect them to an existing table.
The accounting software we are currently converting to allows UDFs to added anywhere on the form and connect to all tables in the DB. They also have more fields types to select from. Adding these features could greatly extend the function of the base software to match our business needs.
