Detailed Location Configuration for Automatic Location Assignment for Drawing Markups

Goal:

We would like to see a detailed location capability for drawings, specifically for use on floor plans. The goal is to simplify creating punch items from floor plans by dropping a pin and having PS automatically assign a location to that new punch item. This would be useful for automatically adding location to all drawing markups, simply by adding a markup to a drawing.

Proposed Solution:

When demonstrating the punch process on mobile, I am almost always asked if dropping a pin on a drawing will automatically fill in the location on the new punch item. Everyone seems to assume that this is possible. I have tried to come up with simple way to make it happen.

I'm thinking it would be useful for the drawings module to have a detailed location configuration mode. Basically, what I envision is that a user would open a floor plan, go into this mode, and it would allow the user to outline all the rooms rooms, or have a feature similar to Bluebeam's Dynamic Fill takeoff feature to quickly fill in areas separated by walls/doors.

After outlining all the rooms, corridors, stairs, etc., the user would then assign a location to each outlined section. So, the sheet itself could be assigned with Level 1, but within the sheet, it could have more detailed locations for each room. After completing outlining & room location tagging on a floor, PS could offer to copy the outlines to another sheet, so that for other floor plans, you only need to assign the locations to each room and not outline everything all over again, unless there were significant changes to the floor plan.

Doing this setup once, at the beginning of the project, would save time in the future by making it unnecessary to manually select the location for any drawing markups.

Dependencies:

This would require that you also add an existing request (https://projectsight.ideas.aha.io/ideas/PSM-I-65) (2 (https://projectsight.ideas.aha.io/ideas/PSW-I-637) , 3 (https://projectsight.ideas.aha.io/ideas/PSW-I-558) ) to allow the Locations dropdown to be a multi-select field, so that any markups that overlap two or more outlined areas would automatically be assigned all of the overlapping locations.
